Fragments of Becoming

how to focus on something

Open your calendar. Create an event for something you need to do. Block at least one hour.

Let’s say you name it: shred paper.

When the time comes, you have two options. Shred paper or do nothing at all. You don’t have to shred any paper. But you must not work on anything else.

snooze

The alarm clock rings. Normally he reaches for snooze. Today is the day everything changes.

The alarm clock is turned off. Coffee. Email. Scrolling. It all feels familiar.

Six hours later, the alarm clock rings. He presses snooze.

fragment 001

On the edge of a doorway that doesn’t exist. You can’t see the other side. Something is there. Something great. But I can’t put my finger on what it is. I just know it’s there. It has to be. Every fiber of my being wants it to be pretty and perfect. But we already know it’s not. Forever it will be in pieces. And not until we accept that can this exist at all. I’m just not ready to explain it to you yet.
